The Oscar party was a hit. We had quite a few guests and mostly everyone had worn a costume. The winner of the costume award was Brian who dressed as Seth from Superbad. He came fully dressed as Seth with a pair of Tide bottles, his crazy T-shirt and his stained pair of pants. We had other great costumes including the Seth's friend Fogel from Superbad, a pregnant couple, Juno and Paulie Bleeker from Juno, a cowboy from who knows what movie, Dustin Hoffman from Wag the Dog and Angelina Jolie with her two interracial children. I dressed up as the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz, winning the second place prize.

The 80th Annual Academy Awards
This weekend Scott and I will be hosting our first annual Oscar's party. Our friend Conrado would have Oscar parties and asked us all to dress up as a character from a movie that was nominated for an Oscar, past or present. My first year I dressed up as Erin Brockovich and the next year I was Princess Jasmine from Aladdin. Scott has dressed as the Godfather and Tom Cruise in Risky Business. We've even had friends dress up as James Dean, Al Pacino and Shrek. (I'll try to find pictures to upload). So this year Scott and I will continue with the theme of dressing up, hopefully our guests will have some great costumes.
I haven't seen many of the nominated films this year, I tend to watch them after the award ceremony rather than before. Of the nominated movies in the Best Picture category, I have only seen There Will be Blood. I read reviews on this movie before we went to watch it and there were both good and bad reviews. I really enjoyed this movie. Daniel Day-Lewis played a complex character as the selfish, oil drilling prospector. He is nominated for best actor and although I've only seen one other movie with a nominated actor, I think that DDL should definitely win this category.
These are the movies that I have seen this year that have been nominated for an Oscar:
-The Bourne Ultimatum
-Eastern Promises
-Into the Wild
-Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
-Ratatouille
-There Will be Blood
-3:10 to Yuma
-Transformers
I would still like to watch these movies:
-The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
-Atonement
-Gone Baby Gone
-Juno
-Kite Runner
So we'll be rolling out the red carpet for the Oscar's this weekend and hopefully we'll have a fun time with some interesting characters. I'll be sure to post some pictures when it's over.
